BCDS Spring Tennis

Tennis 2009

Commitment. Determination. Triumph. The three words that best describe the Beaver Boys Varsity tennis team. For the past couple of years the Beaver Boys Varsity Tennis team has been exceptionally strong, winning two out of the last three Eastern Independent Championships. Last year the team fell just short of another championship, as Pingree edged them out four to three in the League Tournament. Nevertheless, having only lost one senior on the starting seven (last years captain Arian Fararooy), it is expected that this team is destined to succeed. With the majority of the varsity team returning with a few talented additions, Max Rodman and Kris Bronner, the potential for victory is great. It can be argued that this year’s varsity squad will be the strongest in the history of the Boys tennis team. With this in mind, come springtime it would be fantastic to get a consistent number of Beaver fans to support this promising team. This season is full of hope and it would be a shame if the Beaver community couldn’t witness this extraordinary team. Just like the basketball team needs you, so does the tennis team.

Due to their past success, this upcoming season the boys varsity should play schools outside of the league in order to prepare for the regular season. Specifically the Independent School League (ISL), like Milton and Nobles who play against Class B teams. Although many of these schools are a class or two ahead of us, I am confident that many of these matches would be quite competitive. This spring the team will be playing at the Longwood Cricket Club along with the Baker Public courts and at Mount Ida College. If tennis team can demonstrate it is good enough to play in the league above Beaver, then they will be able to achieve high standards of play. Excitement is in the air, and Like Coach Brooks says, “The sky is the limit.”
