The BCDS Varsity baseball team defeated Concord Academy easily 6-2 on Wednesday. Shane Bourque was the star of the game because of his stellar pitching performance. He pitched 6 innings giving up two runs on seven hits. The Beaver offence also came alive early. Dan Fellman hit a triple to begin the game, and Shane Bourque drove him in on a single. Bourque scored later in the inning on a ground-out by Clay Marsh. In the third, Dan Fellman started another rally with a double and was driven in on a sacrifice fly by Dan Segel. Then Steven Phillips smashed a double which scored Segel. In the fourth, Clay Marsh made a heads up play by tagging a base runner who ran the basses incorrectly to turn a double play. In the sixth inning, Phillips hit his second double of the game which scored two. Luke Fraser made his debut and closed the game perfectly. He struck out two, walked none, and gave up a single. After the game Coach Mac said his unorthodox pitching style would make him very successful.
