Beaver Baseball Wins with a Walk-off: 4-3

Clay MarshOn Tuesday, May 12th The Beaver Varsity team took on Chapel Hill Chancy Hall. Clay Marsh took the mound for Beaver. CHCH took advantage of Beaver errors early and scored one run in the first inning. Alex Jacobs slapped a single to right field in the bottom of the first and scored later in that inning on a single by Steven Phillips. Clay had a great outing and carried a no hitter into the fourth, but he was taken out because of arm pain. Luke Fraser took the mound and gave up two runs in the fourth, but then settled down and did not allow another run for the rest of the game. The Beaver bats came alive in the bottom of the fourth when Steven Phillips and Reid Bernstein scored on a double by Marsh. In the seventh inning, the score was tied at three. Alex Jacobs smacked a single to center field with one out. Dan Segel pounded a ground rule double that bounced off the bleachers in deep center field which left men on second and third with one out. Jeff Wienman stepped up to the plate and connected with the second pitch he saw, sending a game winning single to center field. Final score, Beaver four, CHCH three.
