The 5th and Final “Movie Madness”

After a long run of cinematic masterpieces, the 7th Grade “Movie Madness” project–brainchild of English teacher extraordinaire Mr. Greenberg–took over the Rogers Room for the last time today, as students showcased their trailers and short films. Their assignment was to take historical events and interject original characters, and the result was a somber set of movies centering on events ranging from the Civil War to World War II to the September 11th terrorist attacks. Fortunately, John Kalnins’ pants fell down, and everyone had a good laugh.

Attendees voted for Best Trailer, Best Picture, Best Bloopers, and Best Actor awards. The winners will be announced tomorrow at lunch. (Updated: see results below.)

Next year, Movie Madness will be replaced by a top-secret new project. Despite the Beaver Reader’s merciless interrogation, Mr. Greenberg remained tight-lipped, revealing only that it will involve telling stories in different ways. We await the eventual unveiling with bated breath.

And congratulations to Best Actors John Kalnins and AJ Simpson.
