Toughness Displayed in Concord

crosscountryThe cross country team had their first meet of the season on Wednesday September, 23rd against two tough teams: Concord Academy and Bancroft. The meet took place at Great Brooks park in Carlisle, MA. We were very anxious to finally compete, and the results were not disappointing. The meet was broken down into a varsity race and a 1.6 mile race for the people who were new to the team or sport. Varsity runner Taylor Pierce ’11 ran an unbelievable race breaking the 20 minute mark and coming in third overall. Sonya Raab ’13 also had a great race coming in first overall in the girls’ 1.6 race. In the boys’ 1.6, Ben Mills ’13 had a strong start to the season finishing 2nd. And we can’t forget Lucy Hicks ’10 who came in 3rd overall in the girls varsity race. Even with several strong performances, Beaver unfortunately ended up losing to both teams.
